Leadership is not just a mindset; it’s a full-bodied experience. This is something I believe along with many leaders, however many leaders try to run multi-million-pound organisations or guide teams of hundreds while completely cut off from the very source of their power: their bodies.
In a world obsessed with productivity, strategy, logic and turnover, many leaders lead from the neck up. They survive on polished smiles, busy brains, and caffeine-fuelled lifestyles. They forget that their body is their power. They forget that working with their energy and life force is what gives them the edge. They forget their presence and ability to be present is leadership gold.
Many leaders survive and don’t thrive because they are disconnected from the very thing that is core to who they are.
I believe there is a leadership crisis that no one is talking about, one I have personally witnessed time and time again with professionals at every level. I have supported CEO’s, executives, leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who have learnt to suppress the very energy that could set them free.
I’m talking about the energy that lives in the hips, the belly, the chest and the heart. The raw, vital pulse of life that fuels creativity, confidence, intuition, and authentic connection. I call this sexual energy, but don’t panic, this isn’t about sex. It is about the core of every human being, the life force that fuels are. I am talking about your vitality, clarity, and inner radiance.
Have you ever walked into a room and felt someone’s presence before they even spoke? Have you ever had a knowing that runs to your core? Have you ever had a feeling about a situation you can’t explain, you just know? That’s what we’re talking about. That’s embodied leadership.
If you are a leader who doubts your decisions or needs external validation, if you get stuck on autopilot, running from one task to the next, if you numb out to life you are living from the shoulder up and missing out on the deepest reservoir of power you possess.
As a leader when you return to their body, everything changes. I call this coming home to self, the reconnection to self, the connection to your life force, the embodiment of your sexual energy. When you have this your communication sharpens, you confidence deepens, your creativity reawakens. You stop seeking worthiness and start leading with wholeness.
Words like embodiment, energy, and sensuality can make many professionals feel uncomfortable. But this is not some abstract spiritual concept, It’s not woo-woo. It is grounded in biology and backed by science.
When you reconnect with your body, you regulate your nervous systems, access clearer decision-making, and build stronger emotional resilience.
When you awaken your energy, you create organisations that are more engaged, more collaborative, and more human. This isn’t soft. It’s strategic.
Embodied leadership is when you trust your instincts and make decisions with clarity and conviction. It is when you speak in a way that people not only understand but feel. It is when as leaders you remain grounded and responsive, even under pressure. Its when you create psychologically safe spaces where teams can truly connect and you lead with lead with courage, compassion, and confidence – without burning out.
Most of us have been taught that the body is messy, unpredictable, or even shameful. Especially when it comes to sexuality, emotion, or desire. This is far from the truth because the truth is if you are disconnected from your body, you are disconnected from your energy, and operating at half your potential. An embodied leader creates better relationships, stronger boundaries, and more meaningful lives.
Whatever type of leader you are, your body holds the key to your next evolution. Find home, trust it, lead from it and become the embodied leader that creates change.
So my five top tips for all leaders to create that power in the power are:
1. Begin with the Body: Start each day with grounding yourself. Use breath work, movement, or stillness. Do this before checking emails.
2. Take Power Pauses: Pause for 60 seconds throughout the day. Feel into your body. Reset your presence. Be present.
3. Move Your Energy: Fuel your body and your power. Activate your hips, belly, and heart with dance, breath, or mindful movement.
4. Feel Your Decisions: Don’t just think. Let your body guide you in an aligned, intuitive way.
5. Lead Sensually: Engage your senses. Connect to presence, it is magnetic. Sensuality sharpens your impact and connection to everything.
